What this directory is

Cheltenham Paving Contractor Guide is an independent listing and comparison resource covering 35 paving contractor businesses working in and around Cheltenham. It’s built for homeowners and property managers who want to compare local paving firms, drive and patio installers, and groundworks contractors without wading through dozens of separate websites and review pages.

Each listing pulls together public business details (contact information, service areas, years trading where that’s published) with a synthesis of recent Google review activity. We don’t republish review text or copy star ratings wholesale. Instead we summarise what reviewers are consistently saying and link out to the business’s actual Google listing so you can read the original reviews yourself.

How the rankings work

Every contractor on this site is scored against a published rubric, set out in full on our /methodology/ page. The scoring looks at things like review volume, recency, consistency of sentiment, and how a business responds to public feedback. It’s data only. Nobody on our team meets these contractors in person before ranking them, and no amount of phone calls or emails moves a business up the list.

Businesses can flag factual errors, like a wrong phone number, an outdated address, or a service area that’s changed, and we’ll correct that promptly. What a business cannot do is edit its own score, its sentiment summary, or where it sits in the ranking. That separation is the whole point of the exercise: the facts can be fixed by the people who know them best, but the judgement stays independent.

Sponsorship, clearly separated

Some contractors choose to sponsor their presence on this site. Where that happens, it’s labelled “Sponsored” and displayed apart from the earned ranking, never blended into it. Paying for a sponsored slot has no effect on a contractor’s score or its position in the ranked list. The two systems are kept deliberately apart.

We should also be plain about the rest of the business model: this directory generates enquiries for local providers. When you ask to be matched with a contractor, we pass your enquiry to providers relevant to your request, and we may receive a referral fee for that introduction. That arrangement is disclosed again on the quote page, and it never touches how businesses are scored or ranked.

Who runs this

This site is published by Meridian Guides, a publisher that has been producing independent city directories for everyday services since 2025, with coverage extending from its original markets into Cheltenham. Meridian Guides ranks contractors using a published scoring method built on public customer reviews, never sells rankings, and re-checks every listing monthly so the information stays current. You’ll see a “last verified” stamp on each listing reflecting that ongoing check.

Editorial oversight of the rankings sits with Janice, Editor, who maintains the scoring and listing data month to month.
